Re: GATES - Ed Levin
Ben, I hiked the road last Friday and the sign was still on the gate, so it must have been removed this past weekend. The gate could use some attention. Only one of the latch tines (barely) engages the fence post. The gate needs to be raised. It’s easy to miss setting the one latch tine in the hole....

Ed Levin 1750 windsock
The rope lashing at the top of the windsock appears to be coming apart. When I had the duty I used antenna guy rope which is impervious to UV throughout the life of the windsock. $10 at HRO. http://www.hamradio.com/detail.cfm?pid=H0-002179

Re: windsock
If you're talking about the 1750' windsock, I purchased that 36" windsock frame in 2000 from Aerosock Inc. They're still in business at http://www.aerosock.com/windsock-frames/double-ball-bearing.html I also bought 4 spare bearing sets in 2002 for future use. Phyl Hamby might still have them, I...

Re: Mission Web Cam re-aligned. For now.
Hi guys, My 2 cents. Remember you're mounting a camera, no a radio antenna. A free standing pedestal base is going to shake in the wind. A better mount would be a 4" steel pipe 2 feet into the ground with post hole concrete. The best plan is to mount it to the house. A ledger board lagged to th...

Re: Six Ed Levin Launch Videos
All of these lauches had problems with pitch control. One simple cure is to get the hang strap tight BEFORE the start of the launch run. The correct AOA will then be possible to set and hold during the launch run. -Randy

I sometimes wonder if Alan Greenspan has a second career writing NWS discussions.

Re: mission webcam
Doug,
If this is a PTZ (pan, tilt, zoom) camera mount, it's a bad idea. There's one on Mt Allison that they had to lock down to the general public. The cyber miscreants were on the camera P,T and Z-ing constantly, to where the camera was almost unusable. -rt
